Remember the Fear?

Your old man had you by the scruff of your neck.  The wild road was in front of you – the same pavement that got your mother screaming at the top of her lungs every time you even looked at it.  This time, however, you’re being forced to use it.  “Keep your feet on the pedals!”  What’s that all about, you just got used to them on the ground.  “Keep going!”  For the love of God – why must you be on this wheeled contraption?  It’s a must?  “I have to learn how to ride a bike?”

Luckily the old man knew when you were about to tumble, and caught you.  Thanks guy.  Naturally you try again.  Works a little bit better this time.  Might even try to pick up speed.  The tables turned.  The fear was gone.  “Slow down!”  Nope.  The road was yours.  And it would be forever.  Peace!

I saw this going on today in my neighborhood, and it made me vividly remember my tale of learning how to ride on two wheels – what’s yours?
