The big night is finally here!  We are excited to announce the 2011 Fitzgerald’s Bicycles Team Sign Up night is Thursday, March 10th from 5-8 PM! This is also the same night as the Fitzgerald’s Customer Appreciation Party so it will be a very festive evening at the shop.  Get ready for Roller Racing!  Please spread the word about the Party and the Team Sign Up Night.

Our team kits will be made by Sugoi and the timing of our sign up night is due in part to the availability of their samples.  We will have most items available for you to try on for sizing.  As in the past, we will ask for a deposit at the time you place your order and you will pay the balance when the team kits arrive later this spring.

Let me know if you have any questions about the sign up night or the new 2011 program.

IMPORTANT: Registration for the 2011 Pierre’s Hole 50/100 MTB Race opens Monday, March 7th at 7:00 PM MST.  Register at Athlete360.com. (Other 2011 NUE Series races have sold out in minutes)

2011 Laramie Enduro Race – Saturday, July 30th

The 2011 Laramie Endure Race will again be a favorite for people all over the country.  Registration for this event is very limited, visit the Laramie Enduro Official Site and sign up to their mailing list to receive up to date information about signing up for the lottery.

Situated in the Laramie Range of Southeastern Wyoming, this course covers some of the best mountain bike trails in the region. The course is a fast and extremely fun loop, covering no ground twice. It includes virtually every kind of trail and surface a mountain biker is likely to encounter in the Rockies, from wildlife trails to single track to dirt roads. It is equally well suited for geared bikes and single speeds.

It’s no secret that Orbea has some big announcements coming up this spring regarding Dama. No matter how good our current bikes are, we are constantly moving forward. A relentless pursuit of unique styling, our desire to incorporate new technologies, our unquenchable need to create… well, AWESOMENESS dictates that we can’t stand still.

But before we can open the next exciting chapter of Dama, there’s the small matter of a few extra Divas and Opal Damas in our warehouse. For those of you who can spot a great deal coming from a mile away, queue the exciting drumroll.

The Push for Snowbiking in Yellowstone

More people are pushing for snow biking in the Nation Parks than we thought!  The Drunk Cyclist started a huge thread about the issue.

“In my opinion if snowmobiles, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing is allowed, bikes should be allowed as well.  The greater issue should be more about making sure that everyone’s safety is top concern, and there are minimal chances of crashes and near crashes between snowmobiles and bicycles.  However, my opinion is seldom correct, or presented in a well written manner.  For that I offer you a link to an opinion piece written by Mr. Scott Fitzgerald who owns Fitzgeralds Bicycles in Jackson, WY, and has played a large role in the cycling-centric development of Victor, ID. If the link doesn’t work, check out this blog posting to see the article. Feel free to share your opinion, and remember, try to place nice.”

What do YOU think?  Should it be allowed?

2011 Togwotee Winter Classic: Race 2

The 2011 Togwotee Winter Classic Race #2 is less than two weeks away!  We will offer two distances for Race #2; the 25-Mile loop via the “V” Trail or the 35-Mile loop via the “K” Trail.  If this is your first Togwotee Winter Classic, I strongly suggest doing the 25-Mile loop. You must declare your distance at the 8:30am pre-race meeting.
The Togwotee Winter Classic is a not-for-profit event and the entry fee is FREE.  There will be prizes from our sponsors Carbo Rocket, Baffin Boots, RU Outside, Ergon, and Fitzgerald’s Bicycles.  Prizes at a FREE event?  Yeah, we’re crazy like that.

Some serious questions will be answered at the TWC #2:
1) Will Chris “The Viking” Erickson brush the cobwebs off of his Pugsley and come out of retirement?
2) Can Fitzy pull off yet another “off the couch” performance?
3) Will JayP’s 35-mile course record of 4:39:00 stand?
4) Is Hami the dark horse in his first snow bike race ever?

A couple of race reminders:
  • There will be no aid station on the course.  Carry what you need.
  • Carry a headlamp & red tail light just in case
  • We will regroup for food and frosty adult beverages after the race in the bar at Togwotee Lodge

Please email me to let know if you are planning to attend.
