How can you resist?

And I thought there were only 1000 uses for a bike…

I would love to come up with the perfect, witty, funny, quote for this picture.  But, the more I look at it, the more I realize it should just speak for itself.

Fitzgerald’s Bike to School Ambassador Winner – Elijah Weenig, 2nd grade

schoolchallenge

Fitzgerald’s Bicycles and Friends of Pathways congratulates Elijah Weenig, 2nd-grader at Jackson Elementary School, and the first “Fitzgerald’s Bike to School Ambassador” who earns the title for the rest of this school year and coming summer.  In winning the Go By Bike – School Challenge Grand Prize, Elijah earns a new bike ($500 credit), one year of free tune ups, and a $200 gear credit all from Fitzgerald’s Bicycles.

The Go By Bike Bike – School Challenge included students, staff, and faculty who participated this fall.   50 participants logged more than $3,500 miles by walking, riding, rolling, or skiing to 7 different Teton County schools and other activities and events over the fall. Fitzgerald’s would like to thank FOP, students, staff and faculty that helped to make this all happen.  We are really excited to get Elijah outfitted and see him out there acting as a great ambassador for cycling.  We also would like to congratulate all the runner up students who put in a great effort.  We hope they will continue to promote cycling to their peers.

There will be an awards ceremony, Friday December 18th, at 4:15pm at Fitzgeralds Bicycles.  Everyone is welcome, and winners do not need to be present to receive their awards.  Come help us congratulate the kids, and talk about ideas and improvements for next semester!

Snowbiking is Here!

If you haven’t gotten your mountain bike out and ridden up in Cache Creek lately you should consider it. I have gotten out about 5 times in the last week or so. Hagen, Putt-Putt, and the road have been riding very well with regular mountain bike tires. The recent snow may cause some slippery moments, but a wider tire at lower pressure may do the trick.

If you don’t want to give that a go you may consider taking a snow bike out. We are planning a couple of Surly Pugsley snow bike rentals that should be available in a couple of weeks. The Pugsley yields 3.7″ wide tires specifically designed to run in snow. We have tons of great places that offer groomed trails to ride most of the winter. Come by the shop and see what all the craze is about.
