Jannine and I just arrived in Washington DC for our second trip to the National Bike Summit. This year, the League of National Bicyclists are coordinating efforts to prepare for the re-authorization of the Federal Transportation Bill. It is more important than ever that cyclists’ needs are represented in the Bill. Under the last administration, early studies about our current transportation system had not one mention of the word “bicycle”. We have a great opportunity under our new administration to change that culture. I’ll be posting Twitter updates as the week unfolds starting later tonight. Check back if you’re in the mood!

Here we ago again… It’s time to celebrate the start of the 2009 Bike Season and my favorite holiday of the year! We will once again be partnering up with the Snake River Brewing Co. to offer Jackson Hole the best St Pattys Day party ever.
Come by the shop from 11am – 6pm for our annual ONE DAY SALE before heading to the pub for Fitzy’s Irish Stout, Free Bike Swag, and Live Irish Music from Slip and the Jigs!
10% of all proceeds at the shop on March 17th will go straight to our new community radio station KHOL.
**Additional sales to be determined hourly as we spin the Fitzy Wheel of Fortune – watch this website for updates!

If you haven’t heard, Fitzgerald’s Bicycles Team riders Jay and Tracey Petervary are up in Alaska racing their snowbikes in the Alaskan Ultrasport. The couple will ride from Knik to McGrath for a grand total of 350 miles along the famed Iditarod dogsled course. We are all sending our positive thoughts up to Alaska right now to help push them along! Here are a couple links to check out the action:

I am sure you are all feeling a bit of cabin fever. You can’t deny the past few days (40+ temps) have gotten you a bit excited for warmer days to come. Woke up to a full on thunder and lightning storm this morning over in Victor…crazy. Here at Fitzgerald’s Matt and Tim have been building 09 bikes like crazy. I want to take the time to introduce a few new lines here at the shop:
MASI:
Soulville 7 – $875: SoulVille isn’t merely a line of Masi bicycles, it’s a whole new state of mind. Not every ride can be about energy, intensity and speed. Some times you just need to visit the corner market or relax at the neighborhood café. Days like these belong to SoulVille. Of course, every Masi SoulVille is a blast to ride. But for all the comfort and performance these bikes deliver, simply staring at one might bring the most joy of all. That’s because every graceful curve and elegant taper on a SoulVille steel frame is imbued with pure Masi soul. Ride one and you’ll never be the same.

Special Fixed – $795: The Speciale Fixed is a favorite among hardcore Masi riders and track-obsessed purists alike. With steering reactions and pedal response just south of “telepathic” and a drivetrain with both fixed and freewheel gearing, this Masi is well suited for any kind of riding you’re likely to put in its path: lonesome flats, mild grinders, city streets and even a velodrome or two if you’re so inclined.

HARO CRUISERS:
Haro Zimzala and Railer Series cruisers are fun, fresh, comfortable and loaded with personality. Every model features bold paint, custom seat and grips and colorful anodized alloy parts for style and weather resistance. Put on some board shorts and flip-flops and take a two-wheeled timeout for fun.
Cruiser tech highlights:
• Stylish, rust-resistant and gimmick-free frame designs
• Shock-absorbing high-volume balloon tires
• Soft, comfortable saddles and grips
• Swoopy handlebars

Zimzala 3 spd (Cooper and Molly) – $435
