Early, Early Season ‘Cross Practice

Finding an even better use for a Golf CourseJannine and I recently took a mid-winter trip to Florida to escape the cold and visit family. Or at least that’s what we told most people! The real reason for the trip was to get a jump on Cyclocross training!
Last Fall we were both overwhelmed with ‘cross fever and realized we had to have new ‘cross bikes to feed the addiction. The logical choice for us seemed to be Titanium Ritchey Cyclocross Breakaways. What’s a Breakaway? Well quite possibly it’s the coolest bike I’ve ever owned. They are not folding bikes, or goofy travel bikes, but full and complete cross/road bikes that just so happen to break apart in the middle and fit in an airline approved suitcase with no extra fees and about 15 minutes of packing. All packed up and ready to go.
OK, back to Florida. We had a hunch there might be good ‘cross training there, but little did we know just how good! Hilly golf courses for run ups, endless dirt roads, sand traps for authentic Belgium training, and to top it off, rows of half complete houses to use for barrier practice (one small upside of the recession). All that’s left to say now is 218 days to MooseCross, will you be ready?
