Fitz-Barn Ride (Hamilton, MT to Victor, ID)

NOTICE: The 2021 Barn-Fitz Ride includes reroutes detouring the Trail Creek, Alder Creek, Christensen and Black Mountain fires.

At this time all roads on this route are open and passable. Highway 43 coming into Wisdom seems to be the only threatened road -- while we will do our best to stay up to date on the route, all riders are responsible for their own safety.

IF highway 43 is shut down, the ride will be cancelled from starting at Red Barn Bicycles as there are no other feasible options southbound without more mileage and highway riding.

Registration is live! A SPOT tracker or Garmin InReach is mandatory. All riders must sign-up on Trackleaders prior to start.

This is a 450-mile self-supported bikepacking adventure!

The Fitz-Barn has been nicknamed “Tour Divide for the Working Class” due to its grassroots nature and few, but purist set of rules. Some choose to race it. Others choose to tour it. Should you intend to compete with others, you must rely completely on yourself — the spirit of self-supported. There is no aid or SAG available along the route. If you leave the route, you must go back and pick up where you left to continue racing. All we ask is for transparency — if you took aid, skipped a section, etc. your achievement is still great, but you are disqualified from competing.

The 2021 “Barn-Fitz” will take place on the weekend of August 13, 14, 15 and 16. We'll start at Red Barn Bicycles in Hamilton, MT (following the same route as the last four years) with the finish at Fitzgerald's Bicycles in Victor, ID
